The BCCI has given the green signal to the umpire review system (DRS) for the Indian Premier League (IPL). The DRS will be used for the first time in the IPL.
The BCCI has been opposing this system for years. But now it has decided to use it in its important league. Because of the referral system, the BCCI continued to oppose it. But from the time of the 2016 tour of England, he adopted flexibility in his approach.
According to the Indian Express news, the board has now agreed to use the DRS in the 11th edition of the IPL. A BCCI official said, the board was keen to use the DRS for a long time, but now he feels that it can be used in the IPL. Anyway, it is being used in India’s international matches for the past one and a half years.
Workshop of DRS for Domestic umpires
BCCI had organized DRS’s workshop for 10 domestic umpires in the country in Visakhapatnam, in view of the use of the IPL’s DRS. ICC Umpire Coach Dennis Burns and Australian umpire Paul Rifle informed the Indian umpires about this technique. These 10 umpires will now umpire in the IPL.
