Host Sri Lanka decided to field first by winning toss in the first match of the triangular T-20 series against India. India first scored 174 runs. Later, batting first, Sri Lanka achieved a target of 175 in the 18.3 overs losing 5 wickets. Out of Sri Lanka, Kareena Perera scored the highest score of 66 runs. On the brink of Shikhar Dhawan’s highest innings, India, with the initial shock, made 174 for five wickets here in the first match of the triangular T20 International series against Sri Lanka. Dhawan scored 90 runs off 49 balls with six sixes and so many fours, which is his highest score in this format. They shared a 95-run partnership for the third wicket with Manish Pandey (37 runs off 35 balls) while India had earlier lost two wickets for nine runs on the first day of an inventory of batting.

Rishab pant (23 runs on 23 balls) struggled to score runs as Sri Lanka returned in the last over. Dhawan and Pant added 49 runs for the fourth wicket. Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 13 balls with six balls to spare. India scored only ten runs in the 17th and 18th over, so that they could not cross 180 runs. On behalf of Sri Lanka, Dushmant Chamarra took two wickets for 33 runs.
