Experience the entire 10 years in IPL
Dinesh Karthik has the experience of playing for 10 years in IPL. He has played with many IPL franchise teams in the IPL. He has played in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challenger Bangalore, Mumbai Indians till date, so considering his long experience, he has been made the captain of the team.
The only member of KKR in the current Indian team
Dinesh Karthik also plays international cricket for the Indian team. He is the only player in the KKR team who is currently an existing member of the Indian team. Being a member of the current Indian team, he has been given the captaincy of the Kolkata Knight Riders team.
Dinesh Karthik has been performing well in domestic cricket since last two years. He was the highest run scorer in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Tournament, having played 9 matches in the tournament, in which he scored 607 runs at an average of 86.71.
He was also performing well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy recently, he also performed three half-centuries while performing well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament of 2017-18. Whenever he gets an opportunity in the Indian team, he has also scored runs for the Indian team.

Dinesh Karthik has a good experience of captaincy, he has captained the Tamil Nadu team in domestic cricket. He has also captained in 6 matches while playing for Delhi Daredevils in IPL. In the IPL, Dinesh Karthik has won 2 matches in his captaincy, he is missing 4 matches.
Team management does not want to put more pressure on Uthappa
One of the major reasons for Dinesh Karthik as captain was that KKR’s team did not want to put more pressure on Ranin Uthappa management. Rabin Uthappa is already responsible for the top order of the team’s wicketkeeping and batting. In which the KKR team did not want to give more responsibility to Rabin Uthappa. Due to this, KKR’s team management chose Dinesh Karthik as the captain of his team for the IPL 2018.
